Every year about 100 nests are laid on the beaches of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire. STCB volunteers and staff monitor these nests during the incubation period of approximately two months. After hatching, the nests are opened to rescue turtles left behind (for example, they can get stuck behind carrots) and collect data about the nest. This includes information about the hatching success of the nests and the type of turtle that laid the nest.

You can support the work of STCB by adopting a baby turtle. This is a symbolic adoption, and as an adopter you will receive, for example, an official certificate, a photo of a baby turtle and / or a 'species ID' card with additional information about the different types of turtles that nest on Bonaire.

Adopting 1 baby turtle costs USD 10 and you can do this through our website: Hatchling Adoption - Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (bonaireturtles.org)
